Tirpitz Battleship

Fine Art Models has produced this limited edition, Tirpitz ship model in a scale of 1:192 with exacting detail. With one of the most complicated camouflage schemes ever put on a German ship and the most difficult to execute on a model, the Tirpitz ship model differs from the Bismarck, both in design modifications and features that reflect the later ship’s need for improved anti-aircraft protection.  These include relocated cranes for handling scout aircraft, extra AA weaponry, the walkway between the bridge, and the AA position on the roof of turret Bruno.  This model includes the original base and leaded glass case.  Please email or call Fine Art Models for more information and pricing (810-765-5155).  rr

Essex Class Aircraft Carrier - USS Yorktown (CV-10)

Description : USS Yorktown (CV-10), an Essex Class Aircraft Carrier in 1:192 scale, was painted in the striking (dazzle) Design 10A camouflage paint scheme in 1944. This paint scheme is considered the most graceful (and disruptive) of all the carrier camouflage schemes. It broke up the ship's lines and confused the enemy as to the ship's heading and speed. The USS Yorktown (CV-10) was commissioned in April, 1943 and was among the first Essex Class Carriers completed. She began her role in the Pacific in August, 1943. During the remainder of the war the USS Yorktown earned (11) Battle Stars and (1) Presidential Citation. She also earned (5) Battle Stars in the Vietnam war.Today the ship, "The Fighting Lady", is a war memorial and is the centerpiece of the Patriots Point Naval Maritime Museum in Charleston (Harbor), South Carolina.and is open to the public. The FAM USS Yorktown comes with a complement of 1:192 scale camouflaged airplanes and the FAM display case.  The model is in mint condition. Layaway terms are available.

Flush Deck Destroyer - USS Ward (DD-139)

Description:  USS Ward (DD-139), a 1247 ton Wickes Class Destroyer built in 1918, was known as a "Flush-decker" or "Four-stacker".  She served only 3 years and was put into the Reserve Fleet for 19 years. In January 1941 the threat of war in the Pacific forced the US Navy to call her back to duty again. Eleven months later on December 7th the USS Ward became legendary as it fired the first American shot of World War II and sank a Japanese midget submarine an hour before the attack on Pearl Harbor. The FAM model of the USS Ward is in 1:96 scale and has the Number One 4-inch mount at the bow of the ship which fired the first shot (and missed). The second shot was fired from the Number Three 4-inch mount (atop the galley deckhouse amidships on the starboard side) and its round passed through the base of the Japanese submarine's coning tower and it sunk. It's ironic that the combat life of the USS Ward lasted exactly 3 years as it was later sunk itself on December 7, 1944. The FAM USS Ward model is in mint condition and includes the FAM display case. Layaway terms are available.
